In this thesis, seventeen complexes have been synthesized by the reaction offlexible bis(pyridyl) ligand L and aliphatic acid/aromatic acids with Zn、Cd and Agmetal salts, which exhibit diverse zero-dimensional (0-D) metallocycles,one-dimensional (1-D) chains, two-dimensional (2-D) layers and three-dimensional(3-D) networks. All these complexes were determined by element analysis, IR, PL,powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Owing to the excellent flexibility ofbis(pyridyl) ligand and dicarboxylic acids, complexes with novel topological structurescould be obtained through different binding modes. For the complexes constructed fromCd, Ag and L, coordination of atom N of the ethylenediamine spacer can lead tocoordination polymers with high dimension. In the mixed ligands coordinationpolymers, aromatic acids with conjugate rigid skeleton are more favorable to theformation of C-H···π or π-π stacking interactions in comparison with the aliphatic acids, which then result in high dimensional structures. Luminescent analyses indicate thatZn/Cd complexes exhibit blue emissions at room temperature. By contrast, no obviousemissions forAg complexes are detected due to the heavy atom effect ofAg cation.
