Bucket wheel stacker-reclaimer is also known as bucket wheel machine, itis built that based on the bucket elevator, wheel bucket excavator, general beltconveyor and other mining-transportation equipment. Currently bucket wheelstacker-reclaimer becomes an ideal mining-transport equipment for continuousoperation; meanwhile it is also a largest machinery in the world, whichintegrated digging and conveying operation in a set.Bucket wheel stacker-reclaimer has many advantages: it can complete acontinuous operation efficiently and has a large production capacity. Due to itstransmission lines is too long, it can fulfill remote conveying. Additionally theoperation and maintenance process are very simple and convenient; it can easilyrealize modernization management. Thus it particularly suits to large open-pitmines, power plants and other places which require continuous and highefficiency mining and transporting operations. The bucket wheel body is animportant part of a bucket wheel reclaimer, it rotates to drive the bucketcomplete picking material. Bucket wheel shaft acts as a bridge which connectsbucket wheel body、driving device and bucket wheel boom. Hence it shouldtransfer the large and frequently changed load safely between the bucket wheelbody and driving device. However, bucket wheel shaft bears the changed loadfrom the bucket wheel body repeatedly, after reaching a certain number of times,bucket wheel shaft broken suddenly, caused huge economic loss and evenfatalities.However, bucket wheel shaft bears the changed load from the bucket wheelbody repeatedly, after reaching a certain number of times, bucket wheel shaftbroken suddenly, caused huge economic loss and even fatalities. In order tomake the bearing force of bucket wheel shaft more close to realistic reclaimingwork, this paper takes5400t/h boom bucket wheel stacker-reclaimer’s bucketwheel body as an example, selected bucket inserting stock pile and the phase ofascension to study, put forward resistance calculation model in these processesfor the bucket wheel body. Applied Solidworks software to build the bucketwheel body model, imported the model into Ansys Workbench to do finite element analysis. Finally we draw out a conclusion that the bucket wheel shaftbroken is not resulted from low static strength, and then applied SolidWorksSimulation to verify that it caused by fatigue failure. In the end indicated lifeprediction for bucket wheel shaft, and improved the fatigue failure part onbucket wheel shaft, enhancing the service life of the bucket wheel body. Itprovides a certain reference and theoretical guidance for the actual design ofbucket wheel body.
