Small unmanned helicopter are getting increasingly extensive application, hasbecome a hot spot of research in recent years. In the development of unmanned aerialvehicle (UAV) and in the process of the research on the application of UAV, the groundstation system (GCS) was gradually proposed. For the UAV ground station system, ithas the monitoring of state of UAV, the flight path planning and can upload controlparameters. Ground monitoring personnel can real-timely monitor the status of aircraftflight. Thus, the UAV provides the flying with safety and security.This paper discussed small unmanned helicopter and ground station system athome and abroad. It studied that wireless digital transmission of flight status data,playback flight data, graphical functions of real-timely display and implementation oftechnology. In the Visual C++6.0environment, using CserialPortEx class realizedcommunication control. The function of electronic maps and GPS navigation can beimplemented using MapX control. GPS data record and storage of airborne sensor datacan be implemented using Access database and open database connectivity (ODBC)technique.By the way of programming, GCS can run on the PC Windows operating platform.By RS232wireless digital radio, GCS can receive the data packets of flight state thatairborne equipment of UAV sends to the GCS. In the main window, GCS canreal-timely display the longitude, latitude, speed, real course and magnetic declinationof UAV. At the same time GCS can store the flight data to the database in order toprepare for playback and analysis.In this paper, the function structure of small unmanned helicopter ground stationare discussed, and showed that technology and method of each function module. The design of this software can be the foundation of the further development of smallunmanned helicopter ground station system.
