Chinese paintings always emphasize on the expression of mood and transition of formal beauty. LiuBai, which means blanking the part of painting on purpose, is the important part to transit formal beauty of Chinese painting and the continuity of mood. It concerns the subject, mood, taste and other elements of the works, is the key about the works’ success or failure, and can be considered as a coordinate of artist’s self-cultivation and attainments. It’s also an essential portion of self-style of artist. With the collection of documents and pictures, this article is trying to carry some discussion out on LiuBai in Chinese traditional philosophy field and, hoping to find some approaches and rules which both in practically or theoretically can devise us in our future creation of Chinese painting.The paper comprises four parts.Part One:Through introducing the definition of LiuBai and analysis of its developing course, part one tells us the promotion and reflection of the development of Chinese Scholar Painting on the LiuBai method and, makes us further comprehension of the deep influence on the drawing composition of Chinese Landscape Painting which is coupled with Chinese traditional culture. Knowing all of those should enlighten our artists to strength their self-cultivation of art and culture their characteristics.Part Two:It analyses the basic expression ways of LiuBai in Chinese Painting. To appreciate different methods of LiuBai operating different final effects in the work’s style and the expression mood or formal aesthetics, it can provide us fine approaches of creation in Chinese Landscape Painting practically.Part Three:Tells us the fundamental operating rules of LiuBai method in Chinese Painting, including:the YinYang philosophy of Taoism, the absoluteness and relativism of white&black, real&void, the attractive aesthetic character of Chinese Painting, which advise function on LiuBai aesthetic attitude, emphasizing the harmony between human beings and nature, can show us fine methods of creation in Chinese Landscape Painting theoretically.Part Four:Focus on the basic aesthetic field of LiuBai in Chinese Painting. Including:introduces the difference in philosophic thoughts and aesthetic attitudes between Eastern and Western, which embodying in the void and vacant aesthetic trends of Chinese traditional arts, and taking discussion with Western painting. Then, the wide range of Chinese traditional aesthetic thoughts which is embodied by LiuBai method of Chinese Painting in most of Chinese traditional arts fields (Music, Opera, Poem&etc.), it expressed incredible containment and interflowing trend. Thirdly, we will discuss the function of LiuBai in the progress of contemporary Chinese Landscape Painting creation, which carrying out in creative methods and thoughts. Further, we will go on discussing the function of LiuBai in contemporary Chinese Painting, and ended in the analysis of embodiment in its mood expression and creative concept. To point out the interflowing of arts, we can learn and command more professional knowledge and similar cultural structures and, strengthen the whole cultural self-cultivation and promote the ideological level of works consequently.
