Tadeusz Kantor is a contemporary artist of the end of the20th century. It is not easy to specify his main artistic activity, as he was not only adirector, actor, writer and art theorist, but also a painter, stage designerand even an author of happening. The only certain description we mayrisk is that he was outstanding avant-garde creator. Kantor in his ownessays did not discuss much his approach towards an actor in his theatre, his work with actor has brought up one of the most extraordinary actingexperience of late20th century. His theatre idea, among many influences, was surely under early influence of Dadaism, which developed the ideathat "the man is the best theatre". Regarding an actor, Kantor wasopposing traditional actor training,"the only system" to train a successfulactor. His work was based on individual work with an actor, with thesame idea as a therapist would have towards his patient. Kantor requiredthat every actor would bring his own personal life to the extent, wherethey would not be sure which life is more real, this at home, or at thestage. His aversion to "one training method", does not mean he did nothave his approach towards actors he was working with. In this thesis, author takes his attempt towards, Tadeusz Kantor’s unique concept of anactor in his theatre.
