Affect The Interpretation Of The Level Of Emotional Valence Of Their Interaction With The Psychological Distance

According to construal level theory, psychological distance has a certain effect on the construal level, which is the far psychological distance will encourage people tend to take a high construal level, the near psychological distance will encourage people tend to take the low construal level. Psychological distance includes the four distances dimensions of time, space, social distance and probabilistic, which has the potential of automated similarity relation between the four distance dimension, while a large number of studies have shown that the psychological distance in addition to including the above four distances outside dimensions, but also extended to the field of social power, ownership and transactions, novelty. In addition, studies have shown that negative emotions will encourage people to take low construal level to explain the object things, and the increased emotional intensity will encourage people to perceiving a nearer psychological distance. But at present there is no study have directly investigated the relationship between emotional valence and the construal level theory, not emotional potency of the concept of psychological distance combination study. Therefore, this study on the basis of the existing research above, mainly research the effect of emotional valence on the construal level, as well as the relationship between emotional valence, psychological distance and construal level theory.In this study, the experiment one mainly through video clips emotional induction methods to induce subjects to generate the emotional experience, and then examine the difference under different emotional experience that subjects were taken the construal level. Experiment two mainly through scenarios imagine task induced participants into corresponding emotion experience, and joined the psychological distance factors, research the difference between the construal level that the subjects use, and the subjects were taken in different emotional experience and the psychological distance. The results show that:1. Emotional valence has some influence on the construal level, namely positive and neutral moods will encourage people to take the high construal level, negative emotions will prompt people to take low construal level.2. The interaction of psychological distance and emotional valence is significant, namely the effect of emotional valence on the construal level is influenced by psychological distance. For example, compared with the subjects under the conditions of nearly psychological distance, the negative mood will induce the subjects under the conditions of far psychological distance tend to take high construal level.
