Kate Chopin is one of the well-known feminist writers at the end of19th Century. It takes years for her novel to be acknowledged as one of the best novels in America because the content was beyond recognition for a long time.Kate Chopin succeeded in portraying a female figure growing from a traditional housewife with no consciousness to a woman who is brave enough to pursue love, independence and dream. This novel is interpreted mostly from the angle of feminism. It is a novel which, to some degree, reflects that women in19th century do not have their own voice, independence and consciousness. But it is more than that. In fact, it reveals the complicated feelings of human being during the struggle. Although it is impossible to avoid the influence of that time, yet the author broke the bound of time and displayed human feelings so that readers and the leading character can have a deep communication through the text. Readers can get into the deepest part of the leading character and know every small changes of character’s mentality.
