Raymond Carver, a contemporary short story writer, was known with a label of "Minimalism", and was called "the American Chekhov" and "the America’s most influential short story writer after Ernest Hemingway". He wrote sixty-five short stories, such as when we talk about love, what we are talking about and cathedral. His characters are mostly unemployed, divorced people who are alcoholic drinkers. By Simple but full description, Cold but warm touch, Carver presents a picture of the20th century’s underclass people’s life for readers.This article tries to use the phenomenological research method, combined with narrative method, study from the text itself. First, through the character’s "life world",Carver presents their failure and patience, radically reducing their "lonely" state of being; Second, by analysing " blank narrative" and focusing on "degree zero ending", Carver presents his minimal narrative style; On this basis, Carver also presents his fullness narrative style; Finally, through analyzing Carver’s Creative thinking, we can find Carver’s works’literary characteristics of cold but warm.
