Title Music Piano Works Of Visual Synesthesia Relatively Consistent

Music synesthesia research is a critical issue in the field of cognitive psychology and music psychology. Previous scholars have studied this topic from different perspective. As a kind of auditory stimuli, music has a certain cognitive connection with other sensory stimuli such as sense of visual and touch. The purpose of this study is to analyze the coupling relationship between music and visual association, and to understand the internal mechanism of this effect. Across two experiments, this research has explored the difference of audio-visual synesthesia consistency between different period piano program music (romantic and baroque) with a sample of college students. Study one supported the hypothesis that there was a significant difference in audio-visual synesthesia between different music works. That is, the romantic period piano program music was more likely to lead to the experience of audio-visual synesthesia than the baroque period music. In study two, we wanted to verify the mediating effect of emotional certainty in the relationship between music and audio-visual synesthesia consistency. But this study did not confirm the hypothesis. The result shows that emotional certainty difference between music did not significantly explain the difference in audio-visual synesthesia consistency. This whole study has some theoretical and practical implication about understanding audio-visual synesthesia of program music.In terms of theory, this study supports the different level of audio-visual synesthesia existed in different periods of piano program music.In practice, this study can give a help to music appreciation and application.
