Being the primary market of Art trade，the gallery plays an important role in thedevelopment of the Artistic market.In comparison with the western gallery industry,the level standard of Chinese galley industry has been still in its infancy at the presenttime. Even now, there is no galleries in a real sense in China. There are two reasonsfor this current situation, on the one hand, the gallery operators are lack of afar-reaching designs in this business，for example, many native picture-dealer areeager for big success; on the other hand, Chinese galleries are lack of mechanism ofgalleries. Take western galleries as an example, whatever the mechanism of galleriesor the mechanism of museums and even in the administration or policy of the state,which also have a virtuous operational mechanism. Because most of the Chinesegalleries are lack of a virtuous operational mechanism, some of them are eager for bigsuccess, so picture-dealers enjoy a bad reputation and own a bad operation capacity.All of them lead Chinese gallery to a non-virtuous orbit. According to this we can seethat it is important for us to standardize and improve Chinese gallery industry. Thispaper draws a parallel between Chinese gallery industry and American galleryindustry,meanwhile which summarizes the reason why American gallery industry isadvanced and Chinese gallery industry is undeveloped, therefore, this paper continuesto throw up some suggestions and countermeasures that can be helpful to Chinesegallery industry.At the first beginning, this paper summarizes the primary meaning of gallery, whichincludes the concept of gallery、sort of gallery and the functions in the Artistic market.The history review of Chinese gallery industry includes early Chinese style gallery、the classification of Chinese traditional gallery; When refer to the analysis on theoperating status of Chinese gallery industry,which includes the classification ofChinese gallery and the problem that Chinese gallery industry faces to. The secondpart of this paper is called the comparison between Chinese gallery industry andAmerican gallery industry, which is mainly about the developing status of American gallery industry and the analysis on the reason why America get an advanced galleryindustry, which also reflect on some problems of Chinese gallery industry. Accordingto the problems refered in the second part,the third part of the paper puts forwardssome suggestions and countermeasures,which includes some specificsuggestions,such as perfecting the Agency System of gallery、conducting the fileconstruction of the artworks、forming the industry chains on the basis of regionalcompartment、seeking on the support of the government etc.
