In everyday life, we attempt to circumvent negative emotions, such as fear, nausea, and anxiety. In the field of designing art, no one expects such sensation ofnegativity, which actually is not the purpose of designers creation in most cases. Inspite of both viewers and designers reluctance to embrace the negativity, suchphenomena, like Uncanny Valley, still come into being and produce inestimable counter forcein designing. This paper will explore following questions as to how to render designingrational and manageable, how to handle nuanced principles in designing, and how togenerating the thinking of designing with consideration of reception of viewers. This paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter will track the origin of UncannyValley hypothesis. It will briefly introduce and analyze its background, the hypothesiscreator, and the hypothesis itself. The second chapter will focus on the fundamental theoryof Uncanny Valley. I will adopt parts of designing psychological theory, which may havedirect impact on Uncanny Valley effect, to further interpret it. Moreover, I will attemptto provide explanation for some debatable contents. Chapter three will verify a series ofexperiments. I will first introduce experiments relating to Uncanny Valley conducted byforeign academics. Secondly, I will carry out my own experiment named experience ofdesigning s appearance and emotion based upon nuances of moods and linguisticdifferences. The forth chapter will concentrate on pragmatism. By associating with UncannyValley hypothesis and examining the sensation of designing mentality, it will analyze therelation between people and subjects and summarize the details that special attentionshould be paid to during designing.
