With the development of science&technology and art design from the mid-20th century to the beginning of the21th century, diverse design forms have become an important approach for design manifestation."Modulus" refers to coefficient in mathematics, more common in proportionality constant and building constructive method which are proportional in building engineering. The grid design applied in the graphic design has been considered as one modulus design method, which was explicitly defined and clearly divided from the modulus design until recent period. From mental thinking to physical manifestation, it reflects the rational control by human over the regularization of material society, and has left important traces in the creation of mankind. The internationalist design style, initiated by the Swiss designer in1950’s, highlights the advantages of grid in solving planar layout, which is exactly the embodiment of modulus design method.As a form of manifestation for modulus design in graphic design, grid design makes the design thinking and form representation of graphic design standard, constitutive and orderly, with its vertical and horizontal grids and standard dimension proportion. This thesis intends to use the principles of grid design to make design studies to Souvenir Album for60th Anniversary of Establishment of Jiangsu Provincial Architectural D&R Institute Ltd (1953-2013). By generalizing concept of modulus design, analyzing rational characteristics and emotional characteristics of modulus design, and recognizing design originality, cognizing design theme, interpreting design materials and establish design features, this thesis makes unified specifications and creates a complete modulus system for design and layout of images, text and color respectively in the cover, ring lining, head page, inside pages and other designs of souvenir album, making its design style appropriate to the theme of Souvenir Album for60th Anniversary of Establishment of Jiangsu Provincial Architectural D&R Institute Ltd (1953-2013), and presenting the rational characteristics of the building in the souvenir album design in visualization, thus forming the "grid" building with theme spirit and modern style.
