Mario Vargas Llosa (1936-) is an author possessing dual nationality of Peru andSpain. In his life, he writes many books, especially in the field of novel creation. Heemphasizes realism and sharpness of the ideological content,and performs boldinnovation and reform to merge profound and complex social topics with new andchangeable novel structure. Therefore, Llosa is praised as a master of structuralrealism and Wins the2010Nobel Prize for Literature.As a representative figure of structural realism in Latin America, Llosa pays fullattention to unity of novel content and form,and strives to presents a cubic effect ofobjective realities through change of novel structure. The cubic effect comes from thecubic world that the content and topic in Llosa’s novels presents.on the one hand andthe cubic structure of art skill in novel one the other hand. This thesis tries togeneralize and expound around several aspects including Llosa’s road of writingcareer, subject implication and narrative technique of novels, analyze and discussLlosa’s successful attempt on the authenticity of literature and the artistry of form, andunderstand the unity of cubic content and cubic structure in structural realist novelsdeeply.In the introduction part of the thesis, domestic publication and translationsituation of Llosa’s river novels is introduced, research status at home and abroad issummarized and research value and innovation are determined. The main body of thethesis is divided into three parts. In the first part, biographical research method isapplied to trace Llosa’s road of writing career, to understand the effect of legendarylife experiences on Llosa’s literary creation and the influence of European, andAmerican writers including Flaubert and Sartre on Llosa’s creation,furtherunderstand the origin and cubic substantive characteristics of structural realism. Basedon textual analysis, social historical research method is applied to investigate creationthemes of Llosa’s structural realist novels and understand Llosa’s creation intention ofcriticizing military dictatorship, paying close attention to common people and Indiancivilization and showing the social reality in Latin America in various aspects with a cubic visual angle. In the third part, narratology theory is applied to analyze the cubicnarrative features of Llosa’s novels from three aspects including narrative time,narrative visual angle and narrative structure and investigate Llosa’s compositiveapplication of interdisciplinary technology by combining painting, movie and musictechnology. Finally in the epilogue part, it indicates that Llosa’s literary and artisticachievements and literary proposition has very useful reference effect on literaryinnovation and reform under multimedia reading environment in our country.
