Vocabulary as the most active and most sensitive building materials, has an extremely important place in the language. To some extent, vocabulary carries a national objects of perception, thinking, and Lenovo. Color words, as a particular groups in the words not only used to represent the color of objects, also has a rich cultural meaning behind it. Due to different historical background, mental state, ways of thinking, living environment and cultural differences, color words in different ethnic groups reflects the characteristics of color orientation of national culture.This article is divided into four parts. Introduction, identification, basic color words between English and Chinese color words in cultural connotation, basic color terms in English and Chinese cultural differences and convergence analysis.In the introduction section, first collect information, summarizing previous research study about color words, summarize the situation at home and abroad, and to analysis the lack of and describe the significance of this document and research ideas;The second part, based on domestic and foreign researchers for the number of basic color terms and areas have different ideas, so this part is about the scope of basic color terms;The third part, using a large number of examples, comparing the cultural connotations and meanings that the basic color terms in English and Chinese language brings;Part four, further analysis of the causes of such differences, mainly from the natural environment, religion, culture, customs and so on to explain;Conclusion part, due to the development of international exchanges in recent years, making blending in some cultural connotation of color words, this article for a more detailed analysis of this. Through the comparative analysis of cultural connotation of English and Chinese basic color words, not only can we understand them from the concept, and for a better understanding of the Western culture, has the significance of practical applications. In cross-cultural communication, an accurate understanding of cultural connotation of color words, can help learners to prevent misuse. Therefore, this analysis helps to increase the cultural compatibility and sensitivity and to achieve effective communication.
