Shijia Mirror is one category among the Huzhou bronze mirrors, which is popular in the Song Dynasty with "Huzhou Shijia" scripted in the back of mirror. Shijia Mirror took up a large number in the discovery and research of the past, and compared to other privately cast mirrors with inscriptions, Shijia Mirror has been spreading for more than a century with its popularity covering the Southern and the Northern Song Dynasty and its unique folk characteristics. Thus among Huzhou bronze mirrors, Shijia Mirror holds an extremely important position in the family of the Song Dynasty bronze mirrors. Previous scholars in the Song Dynasty bronze mirror of Shijia also did researches on the mirror, but they place it among other Huzhou mirrors within the scope of comprehensive studies, and few made systematic discussions. This article carries out a discussion on the Shijia mirror type classifications of Huzhou in the North and the South Dong Dynasties, the mirror inscription characteristics, stage, store location and the Shijia mirror in full reference of the predecessors’ research results, using the method of typology, philology, and statistics, through sorting, data comparison and induction.The full text is divided into the following four parts:In the introduction, there is the research purpose and significance, and a review of past researches.In the first chapter, there is a typology analysis about the Shijia Mirror excavated on science projects using the typology theory, which summed up the nine categories, and a total of19types.The second chapter is focused on the characteristics of the Shijia Mirror inscriptions. According to the combination of form, they are divided into four categories. Based on the analysis in the first chapter on the patterns, this part summarizes the characteristics and the development.The third chapter explores the position of Shijia mirror stores. According to the analysis of15locations of the mirror inscriptions, combined with the study of ancient literature, it is reasonable to believe that Shijia mirror stores are centered on the Fengning temple area. Through the study of the size of Shi Nian inscriptions and position, and an exploration of a few unearthed Shi Nian mirrors, we acquired the historical information about the Shi Nian store.The fourth chapter probes into the cause of the prosperity and decline of the mirrors, we believe the rise of the upper class in the Song dynasty, their aesthetic tendency, Huzhou location, the mirror casting process are related to the changes. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Shijia Mirror suffered from an insufficiency in its development, causing its decline in the late southern song dynasty.In the conclusion, the full text is summarized, and raised some unsolved problems in the hopes that there would be a proper chance to do another in-depth research.
