In integrated process of contemporary printmaking,creators pay more attention to disc overy of the new medium. While some of these come from new cognition to traditiona1medium.Earlier photosensitive technology discussed in this paper, from the perspect ive of time, have become a kind of traditional medium.But if we think out of the box, the traditional media used in engraving will create new value because of an extension to printmaking’s conception. In terms of creating printmaking, this paper analyzes the development of photosensitive technology prior to twentieth century. Based on these results, we set up a practice and try to find the differences between this part of the pro cess and technologic and aesthetic characters of modern photosensitive imaging and d igital imaging.Then we introduce these characters into printmaking creative activities.In the end,we rethink profoundly the value that photosensitive technology brings, an d aim to expand medium and conception of contemporary printmaking in a reverse wa y.
