Thomas Aquinas devoted much of his attention to ethics. Throughout his study, itcan be seen that his ethic theory starts with the perfect happiness (the Perfect God) andultimate goal, which is caused by goodness. As a result, virtues, the starting point ofThomas Aquinas’ ethics, are extremely important in this academic field. The PerfectGood plays an important role in this theory, and it could be seen, that in this field, author took some basic inspiration from the teleology and ethics of complete happinessby Aristotle. With a Christian background, Thomas Aquinas conceives, that the PerfectGood can not be realized in this life, but only in the heavenly afterlife. According to histheory, the Perfect Happiness is perception of deity and the final purpose of ethics is toglorify the God so as to attain the Perfect Good. Within the framework of Christianity,Thomas Aquinas amended, expanded and deepened the Aristotelian ethics with hisorthodox theology. Thus, human beings can get goodness, but that goodness has alimitation-can be obtained only by the people who shape themselves through the moralprinciples, therefore the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas is called a philosophy ofmorality. The greatness of Thomas Aquinas lies in the unification of belief and reason, which built a close relationship between philosophy and theology. This paper is divided into three parts. The first part contains the conceptualperspective of evolution of Aquinas’ theory, and articles summed up the conceptionand development of the Perfect Good, which provides a complete history of this theory.Second one is based on the text of The Summa Theologica; in this part, the PerfectGood is studied in detail closely. The last part is a discussion about the impact of theGood theory on Aquinas’ ethics and philosophy, as well as the influence on religiousphilosophy.
