| The spread of popular science means a lot to social development, whileenvironmental protection knowledge is an important part of popular science. As peoplebecome more interested in popular science and environmental protection,English-Chinese translations of materials related to those two topics are becoming moreimportant. The material of this thesis deals with energy sustainability and is excerptedfrom Energy: Science, Policy, and the Pursuit of Sustainability. The author puts forwardseveral viable translation strategies according to the problems met in the course oftranslation. Due to the language features of English-Chinese translations of popularscience texts, when translating the text the author practices various translationtechniques such as free translation, literal translation，conversion. Furthermore, theauthor summarizes the experience in the course of the translation and hopes to enlightenfuture translators and propagate the knowledge of popular science and environmentalprotection. |
