Reading has always been one of the main ways for people to obtain knowledge andinformation. The training of reading ability has also always been one of the focuses oflanguage teaching. The improvement of reading ability is beneficial to the combinedtraining of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, at present the traditionalteaching approach in English reading still has its limitations. Meanwhile, the students’reading ability in college school is not optimistic. As one of the explorations of this area,this thesis, by putting the Willis’s task-based language teaching into the practice ofcollege English reading class which will last for nearly half a year, attempts to, with thehelp of questionnaire,class observation and interview, prove that the students ofexperimental class have gained more interest through the new method; they have madegreat achievements in the studies of English reading; they have improved their Englishreading ability and integrative competence. |
