Human rights lawyers and public interest lawyers appear and develop along withthe objective demands of a transitional Chinese society. It is of vital theoretical andpractical significance to study the development of human rights lawyers and publicinterest lawyers in China. The article includes six parts: the first part mainly discussesthe development processes and the challenges confronted by human rights lawyers inChina. The second part analyzes the development processes and characteristics of publicinterest lawyers, as well as the problems they face in participating in the practice ofpublic interest law. By analyzing the typical cases of public interest law practice carriedout by human rights lawyers, the third part explores the practical transformation fromhuman rights lawyers to public interest lawyers, and makes comparisons and analysis onhuman rights lawyers and public interest lawyers. The fourth part analyses the conceptof cause lawyer and its origins, and explores the causes of Chinese human rightslawyers and public interest lawyers with comparison. Through the analysis anddiscussion, the fifth part explores the unique reasons that why Chinese human rightslawyers and public interest lawyers will appear from the view of Chinese realistic. Thesixth part is the summary of the entire article, in which the conclusion is drawn afteranalyzing the relations between stability maintenance and human rights protection: dueto the nature of the occupation as lawyers, it is inevitable for human rights lawyers andpublic interest lawyers to participate in public events and to defend for thedisadvantaged groups. Instead of imposing strict restrictions, it is more advisable toloosen the control and guide the human rights lawyers and public interest lawyers tosafeguard legal rights in a reasonable and legal way.
