The US Immigration Policy on Mexicans can be divided into two differentperiods.The first period is from he beginning of the20th century to1965,called thefreedom period of Mexican immigration which contains1924Immigration Law and TheBracero Program.this period is characterized by free immigration policy and no control. thesecond period is from1965to the end of the20th century,which is called as restriction andpunishment period.The main law in this period are1965Immigration Law and ImmigrationReform and Control Act of1986.It was the first time that Mexico was considered into theuniversal quote system,The US government also took various measures to crack down onillegal immigration.Restricted Law are the symbol of this period.The post1965immigration policy was a failure which aimed at decrease the number of Mexicanimmigrants, instead it brought more illegal immigrants. The immigration policy on Mexicoand the US policy are inseparable, when the United States adopted isolationism diplomatic,it must rely on Mexico to fill Labor vacancy, when U.S. foreign policy seeks for globalsupremacy, Mexico are incorporated into the category of the global strategy.
