After World War II, Western European countries first started regional integration. FromEuropean Coal and Steel Community to European Union, Europe is playing a more andmore significant role in the world. Up to this day, achievements of European integration,which is developed and deepened by the signing and operation and modification of asuccession of treaties, have drawn the attention of the world. Therefore, it will attach greatimportance to discuss European integration from the “treaty” point of view. Except prefaceand conclusion, there are still four chapters. The first chapter includes the influence of theTreaty of Paris and Treaties of Rome on the initial period of European Integration. Thesecond chapter discusses the impact of the Single European Documents on the restarting ofthe integration process of Europe and the establishment of European Union under theTreaty of Maastricht. Additionally, this chapter still discusses the necessity of Treaty ofAmsterdam and Treaty of Nice. The third chapter focuses on the constitutionaldevelopment of Europe affected by the EU Constitutional Treaty and the Treaty of Lisbon.The last chapter generally analyzes the characteristics of those treaties in the process ofEuropean Integration and how institutional framework created by treaties promoted theEuropean Integration. Facing the crisis and challenges in the future, EU will still rely ontreaties to realize the deepening of the European Integration.
