Civic Participation And Integration Of Migrant Workers In Urban Communities

With the development of socialist market economy, the urban community inChina has become mature and perfect. The study of the community involvementwith the migrant population has become a hot research spot and focus nowadays.The basis of the integration of peasant-workers into the community is based on thecommunity participation; therefore, we need to cultivate the peasant-workerssubjective initiative which allows them to take the initiative and involve in thecommunity construction and development. As the investigation indicates, there aremany questions, especially in the field of the peasant-workers sense of participationand level of involvement, The insufficient participation in community becomes abottleneck which obstacle them integrate into the community.This research is an empirical study on the subject of the peasant-workerintegration into the community, selecting the shanghai peasant-workers who comefrom the other provinces, have a steady job and the willingness to settle in shanghaifor long-term as the research subjects, based on the date that getting through thefield investigation of the two chosen communities, and then trying to analyze anddiscuss the integration situation of the peasant-workers, find the problems and putforward countermeasures accordingly.
