China-Japan diplomatic relations is an very important part of china’s diplomatic relations. And it is also one of the important bilateral ties all over the world now days as an important members of the first generation of leadership group of Chinese Communist Party and the core of the second generation, Deng Xiaoping proposed a series of principles, guidelines, policies and methods about the diplomatic relations with Japan,which were based on his scientific judgement of the theme of times, his analysis of the world situation, and on the theory on diplomatic relations to Japan of Mao Zedong as well as that of Zhou Enlai. Deng’s thoughts to Japan was of unique characteristics and opened up new situation in China’s diplomatic work in the new era. Since the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations,especially the reform and opening up of China,plenty of achievements has been made in many fields of the communication and cooperation between China and Japan. But there also exist lots of negative factors which can not be ignored.Now how to deal the relations to Japan properly is a big challenge on China’s peaceful development road, which we have to face and solve.This article consists of history studies on the basic situation and process of the formation of Deng Xiaoping’s diplomatic thoughts to Japan and studies of the main content of Deng’s thoughts to Japan as well as its characteristics and contemporary revelations. This article attempts to provide some revelations and lessons to the development of China-Japan diplomatic relations by an overall study Deng’s diplomatic thoughts to Japan.
