The judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty has inherited theoretical and practical outcomes of judicial appraisal of previous dynasties. In consideration of its outstanding progress, the improvement of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty can be regarded as a milestone in ancient China. The<Record of Redressing Mishandled Cases>, which was written by Song Ci, one famous forensic in Song Dynasty, push the development of judicial appraisal of this period into a higher level, and exerted a profoundly influence on later generations.In this thesis, we’re going to pay attention on the system and achievement of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty and introduce the famous<Record of Redressing Mishandled Cases> and its significance. In this way, we’ll analyze and evaluate attainment of this era, in order to provide some useful advice for the development of nowadays judicial appraisal. The first part mainly talks about the background and reason of the development of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty. In this section, outcomes and reasons in-depth of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty will be carefully discussed. The second part emphasizes on the institutional building of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty, which was not only ensured from the legal dimension, but also put into a deeper practice. The third part presents<Record of Redressing Mishandled Cases> and other three masterpieces of criminal investigation, which consolidated the achievement of Song Dynasty. The last part will make a comment about the influence of judicial appraisal of Song Dynasty on the succeeding dynasties.
