Xunzi People - Relation

Xunzi lived in the era of the falling of ceremony, from this social reality he recognized the reality situation of "too many material supplies and too few resources". This paper state the theory of man-object relationship gradually from doing the best of people, group and substances. As the same time, this paper discusses Xunzi how to realize the goal of "to be poor in material, substance unyielding in desire" from three dimensions on individuals, groups and countries, and realize the unified picture of the national political stability and economic prosperity. Finally through the current social phenomenon, this paper wants to explore Xunzi’s man-object relationship of contemporary reflection, explore its modern significance and value.Thesis discusses the theory of Xunzi’s man-object relationship mainly from three parts. Xunzi thought all things were in nature and the most expensive living beings in the world is human. In the view of Xunzi, object is a relative concept in the sense of meeting human needs, he made clear definitions between people and things. The confucianists advocated gentleman’s personality and Xunzi discussed how to grow up to be a gentleman and how to deal with the relationship between human and desire under the guidance of the gentleman’s personality. Individuals make up society. Individual interests are directly related to group interests and they can only be realized in the society. In order to avoid the tragedy of "too many material supplies and too few resources" and realize group interests and personal interests, Xunzi explained how to achieve the aim of population security from two dimensions of ritual and law. From individuals and groups, Xunzi finally rose to the height of the country. These aspects such as economy, politics and military were discussed for the responsibility of the man-object relationship. Discussing on the theory of man-object relationship progressively, Xunzi was always pursuing moral cultivation and advocating the priority of moral principles, which is in order to realize the healthy and orderly development of society.
