The Studyof The Internalquality Assurance System Of Chulalongkorn University In Thailand

Higher Education Quality Assurance System is an organic whole based on highereducation quality assurance activities and quality assurance organizations, which is aproduct of our era, and the popularization of higher education is also powered by thedevelopment of higher education in the world.As a forerunner of the Higher Education Quality Assurance ChulalongkornUniversity, is an example of institutions of higher learning in Thailand, to some extent,represent the future of higher education in Thailand. Thus it is most obvious that wechoose Chulalongkorn University as a sample for the study of Thailand’s highereducation quality assurance system, which is exactly what we will do in this piece ofwork.Our thesis introduces the Chulalongkorn University’s Higher Education QualityAssurance System, which can be divided into two parts:In first part, we describe the three stages of development of the ChulalongkornUniversity’s Higher Education Quality Assurance system, namely: the first phase(2000-2004), the establishment and development of the system of quality assurance(QA System Development); second stage (2004-2008), the development of theinternal assessment standards (Internal Benchmarking); the third phase (2008-2012),the development of external assessment standards (External Benchmarking).In the second part we describe Chulalongkorn’s quality assurance system, whichcan be divided into four quality assurance systems according to which purpose itserves, namely:Education, primarily responsible for the education and teachingquality assurance system (CU-QA84.1); Research, mainly in charge of academicresearch quality assurance system (CU-QA84.2);Management, the agency’s coremission is to manage and support a variety of internal and external activities of theschool, the CU-QA84.3department’s quality assurance system for the management asa guiding standard;Academic services department whose primary responsibilities forthe various departments of the school is to provide academic services, CU-QA84.4apply to guide such institutions to develop quality assurance system.In addition, in accordance with the quality assurance system of theChulalongkorn University, there are two different types of standards, respectively,corresponding to the minimum requirements and standards requirements of the qualitysystem certification of Chulalongkorn University. The minimum requirements is tomaintain stable and smooth quality, while the other emphasizing upgrading the quality.Based on the previous discussion, we further review the advantages anddisadvantages of the quality assurance system of Chulalongkorn University, and give personal recommendations to overcome the shortcomings of the quality assurancesystem of Chulalongkorn University.
