Short track speed skating,based on physical constitution, body function, skill levels and psychological quality, came from Canada in1905. It is a physical racing ice sport in terms of tactical application.Chinese short track speed skating originated in the beginning of eighties and developed after Japanese short track speed skating team giving lectures in China. As a main point to win golds in Winter Olympic games, the short track speed skating team performed excellently in major international events in the recent decades. Since2002Chinese team won the first gold medal in Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games, our team gained great achievement not only for the records but also the social reputation. While, female won all the gold medals in Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in2010. Almost in the same time, Korea introduced short track speed skating too. Korea won19gold medals,11silver medals and7bronze medals totally after the short track speed skating registered into Winter Olympic Games and it truly became the strong nation in this sport.Training of reserve forces is a key element to develop a sport. However, China and Korea have different method in reserve forces selection and cultivation.Seeing from the World Youth Championship, Korean reserve forces performed better and formed a good replacement between the old and the new, which guarantee the sustainable development of athletes. China transformed the cultivation of reserve forces in the recent years, but still not that satisfying,This thesis adopt some research methods,Like literature data, questionnaire, mathematical statistics, logical analysis and expert interview, to comparatively research different reserve forces cultivation and selection scheme between China and Korea. According to different circumstances, this thesis further analyze the status quo and evaluate the selection scheme and form in these two countries. The aim is to find the most appropriate approach to develop this sport, more effectively cultivate reserve forces, improve performance and form a virtuous cycle. conclusions as followed:1. The main gaps between China and Korea reserve forces due to the qualities of scheme, trainers, locations, and rewards other than the quantities.2. In the aspect of selection, Korea has lots of mature selection competition. While China lacks of fair and reasonable scheme. What we did is just oriented to gold medals. That leads to underlying trainers and athletes lack of enthusiasm.3. The unbalance in Economic level and regional development restrict the popularization and development. Less grassroots protection cannot motivate the current human resource to cultivate the followers.
