Teaching belief refers to the teachers’ view on students, teachers, curriculum, teaching objectives, teaching methods and teaching evaluation. In the process of English teaching, English teachers’ teaching beliefs have great impact on their teaching behavior, at the same time, the improving and development of teaching beliefs plays a key role in solving the difficulties of English teaching. In recent years, the domestic research on high school English teachers’ beliefs focuses on the new English teachers for high school and the pre-service English teachers, SeniorⅢ English teachers’beliefs, however, didn’t get the attention it deserves. Therefore, this study will provide a new perspective for the related research on English teachers’ teaching beliefs by adopting questionnaires and interviews.This research assumes that senior high school English teachers’teaching beliefs consist of some elements:students, teachers, teaching objectives, teaching contents, teaching method, teaching evaluation, etc. Therefore, this article attempts from the above aspects to explore and analyze the current situation and the influencing factors of SeniorⅢ English teachers’beliefs.The study methods is the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis, starting a relevant questionnaire survey on51SeniorⅢ English teachers of six Shenyang ordinary high schools in Liaoning province, choosing12out of51teachers with different background such as gender, teaching age and record of formal schooling to do the further interview. After data collection and analysis, the author found that most of SeniorⅢ English teachers have a clear teaching belief, that is to say, they can have an objective understanding of the current situation of SeniorⅢ students’ English learning and be familiar with key points and difficulties, realizing the significance of the teaching reflection.But at the same time, part of SeniorⅢ English teachers also exist some problems, such as too much emphasis on teachers’ dominant positions, ignoring the students’ interest in learning English,lacking of rational judgment on teaching contents, laying particular stress on "teach-accept" teaching mode.Through the analysis of the causes of the problems above, the author found that the factors that affect SeniorⅢ English teachers’ teaching beliefs contain two aspects:internal factors and external factors. Among them, the internal factors include three aspects:(1) the lack of communication with students.(2) Self-consciousness of professional development is not strong.(3) Lack of necessary and systemic teaching reflection. While the external factors include the following four aspects:(1) High levels of the social expectations.(2) The influence of the regional education policy.(3) The teaching atmosphere in the school is not strong.(4) Teaching training is just a perfunctory. According to these factors, this study from society, schools, teachers three aspects puts forward some suggestions of development of SeniorⅢ English teachers’teaching beliefs.The analysis results of this study on current SeniorⅢ English teachers’ teaching beliefs of common senior high school show that only build perfect teachers’ teaching beliefs development system, trying to overcome unfavorable factors of affecting the SeniorⅢ English teachers’ teaching beliefs, to guarantee the teaching quality of SeniorⅢ English teaching.
