The teaching of English reading and writing occupies a pivotal position in senior middle school.However, the status of English reading and writing teaching in senior middle school is very unsatisfactory. There exist many problems such as too much focus on reading and negligence in writing, a single form of teaching, lack of teaching evaluation mechanism and no motivation.This paper is aimed at the general problem in the current English teaching to explore the feasibility of "scaffolding" theory applied in the English reading and writing teaching in senior middle school, to construct the teaching mode of the English reading and writing teaching in senior middle school under the guidance of the "scaffolding" theory.The paper gives a deep analysis of the entire process through the specific teaching case, summarizes the effect of the teacher’s scaffolding whose instruction in the improvement of the students’reading and writing skills and integrated language proficiency, so as to improve students’ English literacy quality and cultivate the talent in English.The paper first reviews the theory of scaffolding instruction and the teaching method of reading and writing and also analyses the current situation and problems of English teaching in reading and writing. The application of scaffolding instruction in English teaching of senior middle school is feasible, mainly in reading and writing scaffold each other and shares the scaffold used in teaching. An English teaching model in reaching and writing of senior middle school is constructed and it is applied in a teaching case. In order to test the validity of the teaching model, the author conducts a satisfaction survey. The last part summarizes the research achievements and reflections of the new teaching and makes some recommendations for further research.
