The Research Of Wuhan City Compititiveness Based On Principal Component Analysis

With the development of globalization,urbanlization has become a global trend.Urban competition has become more and more competitive. City with competitivedominant has more resource for development,which will widen the gap between cities.How to turn disadvantages to advantages and maintain the remaining advantages, Themajor issue in global social and economic development is that to make a city full ofcompetitiveness, catch better resources and win aggressive position.The paper selected historical data in eight capital cities in China to analyse. The aimis to do empirical analysis on urban competitiveness of Wuhan based on resourcecharacter and the target audience’s preference. According to limits of traditional principalcomponent analysis used in complex index evaluation, the paper uses advancedcomponent analysis.Then, based on the advanced model, a new index evaluation of urbancompetitiveness is built. Combined with some capital cities in middle China, the empiricalanalysis has achieved expected results. So the paper is useful to studying urbancompetitiveness or carrying on it.In the empirical area, industry, technology, infrastructure competitiveness have beenfocused on. It also points out the key elements restricting urban competitiveness in Wuhan.Firstly, the ability of industry development is weak,. Secondly, technological ability hasnot turned to economic advantage. Thirdly, the level of urban management and publicservice needs to be advanced in order to optimize the social environment. Based on theseissue, the paper holds that a strategy of managing the city should be carried out. Regionaleconomics should be developed to expand the economic belt in the Changjiang River andintermediate cam. Culture construction can build urban brand. Enhancing managementlevel for the government can better develop the basement. Through these measurements,the target of globalization, marketlization and ecological in Wuhan can be achieved.
