As it known to all and based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, physical activity isalso a kind of demand of human being, which is everywhere in the daily lives ofhumankind. Social transformation had been heading to modernization, peopleobviously need a fresh way of life to adapt to it. The concept of habitual physicalactivity is the very answer to explain how to live a better life,which is a much morehealthy, civilized way of life. Apparently, middle school students are the true spine forthe future in this nation, and promoting more and more middle school students tocultivate a good habit of participating in physical activities both for individuals,families, society, even the nation is of great significance.This article surveyed ordinary middle school students,physical educationteachers and parents of middle school students in Nanjing. Making use of the methodof literature review, questionnaires, interviews, mathematical statistics and logicalanalysis to discuss and analyze the current situation, form of participation in habitualphysical activity, site and event selection, habits stability, influencing factors affectthe cultivation of good physical activity habits, meanwhile, the bad habits ofparticipation which have negative impacts on high school students.By means of investigation and analysis, drawing the following conclusions:1.Habitual physical activity need to often participate in some kind of physical exerciseand gradually adapt to it, what’s more then to develop a long period of relativelystable part of behaviors and tendencies, which is also the individual proactive need.Specifically expressed in the different forms of exercise; site selection; exercise eventselection; and of course the stability of taking an active part in habitual physicalactivities for a long time. In addition, inferior or subhealth habits of the participationin habitual physical activity, as well the bad habits are of not being advocated.2.Taking an active part in habitual physical activities for a long time is of greatsignificance for the middle school students. Taking the middle school students inNanjing for example,made it clear that the good habits of students accounted for35.7%of the total number of survey, gender differences in boys and girls aresignificant; From the fondness of habitual physical activity, boys occupying a absolutebigger share; weight loss,fitness and learning as the main motivation accounted for59.9%and35.1%of the total survey; the number of the middle school students whowatching television and surfing online, doing homework, reading, even sleeping attheir leisure time occupied the top rankings; school physical education just mainlyconsisting of teaching ball games, physical games, freely moving activities; no timefor taking part in physical activities and be tired of studying are the main reasons ofthe midddle school students do not want to participate in habitual physical activity;56.3%of middle school students made it clear that the habitual physical activity willimprove learning efficiency,20.7%expressed their approval.3.Middle school students’ participation in habitual physical activity are in the form ofcollectively, and family-based; site selection by schools and parks located incommunities, mainly select school as the base accounted for73.9%of the totalnumber of surveys in Nanjing.4.As for the event selection, middle school students participating in habitual physical activity survey indicate the top six favorite gamespot: badminton (56.2%), running(54.6%), swimming (48.5%), basketball (30.3%), cycling (28.6%), Football (26.4%).5.The stability survey related to habits of middle school students participating inhabitual physical activity in Nanjing: the period of time to physical education,after-school and summer and winter vacations get the majority; the habits ofparticipating in habitual physical activity of high school students three times or morea week up to45.5%, the duration of more than half an hour each time accounted for84.2%; movement of moderate intensity or higher of the total number accounted for64.4%(ie, sweating, feeling more tired); most of the middle school students achievedhabitual physical activity and have the potential to cultivating the good habits ofmovement more than six months of the total, more than59%of them reached to awhole year.6.By means of R-factor analysis, obtained seven different kinds of influencingcomponents affecting the cultivation of habitual physical activity among the middleschool students at this stage in Nanjing, as arranged by the size of the variancecontribution rate: the factor of their own subjective conditions, environmentalhardware conditions component, social component, family component, schoolcomponent, the objective condition component and sports demand component.Finally, as to the current situation of high school students’ habitual physicalactivity in Nanjing, this thesis present some rational proposals to promote thedevelopment of physical activity among middle school students.
