With the in-depth development of China’s higher education, it exerts aconstantly higher demand on the construction of teaching contingents. Moreover,in the background that the reform of personnel system is carried forwardgradually in colleges and universities, the research on universities teacherperformance appraisal system marches toward a more complete, deeper,scientific and systematic road. In this paper, based on the study on the relatedprevious universities teacher performance appraisal system at home and broad,as well as combined with the investigation and analysis of the adult collegerepresented by a radio and television university, it discusses several differencesbetween adult college and regular university, such as education object, trainingobjective, teaching method, research perspective and level and so forth. Bygrasping the relatively weak status of the construction of adult college teacherperformance appraisal system, it introduces the KPI method in human resourcemanagement so as to build a performance appraisal system with differentpriority compared with ordinary universities via seizing the key performanceindicators in adult higher education teaching and research work with theapplication of factor analysis.This paper conducts an in-depth exploration for KPI theory. By combiningthe characteristics and role of KPI method with the working feature of adultcollege teachers and performance appraisal status quo, it expounds the necessity and feasibility of the introduction of KPI method in adult college teaching andresearch appraisal system.The outcome of this study is to put forth effort to build a scientific,reasonable and effective adult college teaching and research appraisal system ofkey performance indicators so as to make objective, comprehensive and accurateadult college teacher teaching and research performance evaluation, as well as toprovide a basis for the implementation of human resource management,construction of teaching contingents and personnel and distribution system inChina’s adult higher education, which can be conductive to improve the overallquality of specialized teachers, to establish a reasonable and superior facultystructure, and to fill the gaps in the research of the adult college teachersteaching and research appraisal system of key performance indicators broughtby historical and practical reasons.
