Listening is one of the most important and essential skills among four language skills(listening, speaking, reading and writing). But many teachers in Junior High School only pay much attention to the grammar, pronunciation and so on. So this essay explore how English teachers in junior high school apply Schema Theory into listening teaching to stimulate students’ interest and improve students’ listening ability by enriching and activating the existing schema and building new schema.By applying schema theory, the author carried out an experiment among the junior students in NO.25Middle School. Two classes have been chosen by the author as an experimental group and a control group. There was one listening class per week. The time duration of the experiment lasted for nine months.During the experiment, the author arranged questionnaires, pre-test and post-test in order to get to know students’ attitude about listening comprehension and the different levels between two groups. The results showed that the experimental group made much progress in listening comprehension and was more confident and active in listening class. That is to say the application of schema theory in listening comprehension can not only stimulate students’ interests but also improve students’ listening ability.
