Abstract:Poverty, especially in rural district, is one of tremendous and formidable question faced in developing country, for one thing, it related to development and the goal of modernization; for another, poverty is a hindrance to individual overall development and the build of affluent society. Moreover, elderly antipoverty faced more challenges, for their labor capacity is on the decline. Considering this context, the paper utilize empowerment theory and other relevant theory, intervene a poor family case from Chifeng city, Inner Mongolia, and which intend to find a new and practical way to use approach of social work to help and relieve rural poor problem, as well as check and test the effect of it.The practice of social work intervention reveals that:ⅰ.Through social work practice, social work can resume efficiently clients’power and social support network, reinforce clients’confidence and feeling of happiness, and then conducive to antipoverty. ⅱ.Social empowering theory is a useful and applicable theory to guide anti-poverty. ⅲ.Elderly antipoverty depends on connecting and recovering their social network, not on tapping their own capacity, considering their body dysfunction. ⅳ.In addition, Social network resource, which contained in clients’status, is a significant prerequisite.
