A Practical Exploration Of Integrating Social Work Into College Students Work

Benefiting from the rapid development of economy, the education level of the Pearl River Delta area, Guangdong Province, is improving steadily. But in the meanwhile, as Guangdong is the forefront of Reform and Opening up, the students have been exposed to new thoughts and new situation, which have formed impact on traditional idea of education and administration. College students issue has become diversified, individualized and complicated. Under the social requirement of the innovation of talent-training pattern, especially in face of solving the social problems like college students’lack in study motivation, the maladjustment of students administration work, and the negative impact brought out by mass-media, to reasonably use the method of social work to solve the problem of college students’needs in study and living has become an effective measure of improving the ideological and political education and the construction of community campus. Considering the increasing specialization of social work under the background of present society construction, and its larger and larger coverage, the circle of Social Work considers the construction of college study community as a significant part of social work. Such a community has well connected the needs of the development of students and the employment of the new major of social work. We mainly use the new method and new idea of social work to remedy the traditional patter of ideological and political education, and to supplement the present administration system of students affairs. We introduce mental health education, integrate psychology, social work idea and method into daily education activities, and strengthen the peer-instruction effect, relieve students’ psychological pressure, satisfy the needs of students growing up and development, realize students campus welfare to the full extent, promote education fairness, promote campus’ community development and coordination with the community.Dongguan University of Technology is the first general university in Dongguan, Guangdong, and local students account45%of the whole population on campus. The influence of local students among their friends and in the society not only lies on campus, but also is extended to different areas of Dongguan. Based on the actual needs of campus students of DGUT, this paper aims to analyze the difficulty of frontline work of students’ affairs, and therefore start the Project of Party Secretary, i.e. launch the work of "Promoting Party-building by Leading Social Work into University", continue to explore the sustainable development pattern of social work on campus, analyze the needs, support, key point and difficulty of social work on campus. Build students community and encourage them to take part in the construction of grass-roots party organizations, integrate all kinds of on and off campus resources, explore new pattern of social work and service in university, help the teachers and students to get out of the difficulties they face with, and finally contribute to serve Dongguan.
