The Full-time High School English Syllabus published by the Ministry of NationalEducation pointed out that teachers should use English in their teaching as often aspossible and use mother tongue as appropriately as possible. Does mother tonguehave influence on second language acquisition? Is Middle school students’ intuitivejudgment of English reflexive pronouns sentence with relative subject improved whiletheir mother tongue is improved?Fifty students from Zhangzhou No.1Middle School are divided into two groups totake part in the test. The first group include25ordinary students, second groupinclude25senior students. Each group began to learn English at the age of either11or12, and two groups had never been taught constrained English reflexive pronouns.The study test students’ acquisition of English reflexive pronouns by their intuitivejudgement. The author use White’s(1997)similar test of native speakers as controlledgroup. White’s experimental results suggest that the native speakers’ mother tonguedo no have influence on their acquisition of accessible subjects. SPSS, a statisticalinstrument is used to analyze my experimental data with that of controlled group’sdata. The results show that the mother tongue have influence on second languageacquisition, students’ intuitive judgment of English reflexive pronouns is influencedby their mother tongue. Relative subject in the sentences with reflexive pronounscan explain their understanding of relative subjects in Binding Principle A. And theirintuitive judgement is improved with their improvement of their second foreignelanguage.
