| Paulo Freire was one of the most influential and important authors in20th century. His critical educational theory is plentiful and he has rich practical experience. His educational thoughts were developed and extended around the key viewpoint "education is liberation".He conducted the education of adult literacy, aiming to encourage marginal people in "silent culture" to express their true feelings. He proposed the theory of "liberating education" to change the traditional education model and liberate teachers and students from the imprisonment of "banking education". In fact, the silent class more often blunts the students’sense of criticism, and unconsciously maintains and strengthens the existing system of the teacher’s dignity. However, the "silent" class is quietly breeding in such"exam-oriented education"that is under the cover of "quality-oriented education". At this time, only encouraging students to break away from the "silence" can we realize dialogues between the teacher and the students or among the students, and finally achieve a hopeful class."Silence" is the result of "banking education" or "exam-oriented education".Just like the quiet stagnant water, silence seduces passive acceptance and agitates conventionalism. We advocate dialogue and they are the most powerful forces that harmonizes teacher-student relationship, stimulate students’ innovation ability and promotes the development of quality-oriented education. What is "hope"? Hope is wish. Someone says "living by hope", which is reasonable.Because hope is regarded as the kind of spiritual power or spiritual ballast, it can play a role in motivating, maintaining and regulating human behavior. Hope is a kind of psychological quality people have. As an American scholar of bettermentics, doctor N·Hill, said "Hope is a wish that a person has. He hopes to get what he wishes to get and believes he can get it." Thus, in class, only by sincere dialogues can we make the hope burst real strength. In current educational system, with the further development of curriculum reform, people become more and more fully aware of the significance and function of class which is known as a small part of education. Hope, a beautiful word about life, when embedded in class, can make the class lively, purified and full of dialogues instead of silence. The most distinctive feature of a hopeful class is that teachers can esteem students at anytime and make meaningful dialogues with them.Students are engaged in the communication and can express their thinking freely. If so, new knowledge and abilities will be effectively established, teaching results will be remarkable and the relationship between teachers and students will be harmonious. Here will students have expectations of the class that they can find confidence and interest in study, regain self-esteem and feel happy. When these expectations are blended in their life and study, they will learn interestingly, happily and hopefully. In a class full of hope, students will think more energetically, focus more attentively and learn more actively. |
