This article aims to researching the background of Professional Doctoral education in the UK, elaborating its developments nearly20years, and summarizing the characteristics, analyzing its issues, making some operability recommendations for our development of professional doctoral education. Main courses of the study including comparison method, documentary method, case studies and strive comprehensive comparison of the UK several types of doctoral training mode, set the difference between the institutions as well as international Professional Doctoral project structure.Paper is divided into six parts, namely the introduction, the background and the developments of professional doctorate, professional doctorate’current status, characteristics, problems and Enlightenment. In the introduction part, mainly including the reasons for this study, research status of the sort, and discusses the research methods used in this paper, as well as core concepts defined. The first part focuses on professional doctoral’background, the overview of the developments of professional doctoral education nearly20years, mainly on the overall development of the number of professional doctoral project settings, academic settings, universities’distribution. The second part of the paper focuses mainly on the professional doctorate’current status, through the training objectives, admission criteria, training methods and quality evaluation to introduce professional doctoral training model. Explore and discuss with other doctoral types in culture distinction between modes. Compare the differences between universities in UK and international professional program structure. The third section summarizes the characteristics of the development of professional doctorates, mainly in the professional field continues to expand, increasingly close contact with the profession, the public recognition of continuous improvement, get more government attention. The fourth part discusses the development of professional doctoral issues in UK, including the naming is complex and diverse, training modalities is lack of practicality, there is no clear specification in quality and standards. As well as mentoring system problems. Finally return to China’s actual conditions, analysis the current situation and professional doctoral education issues, made operational recommendations to improve professional doctorate education in our country.
