It is currently on the curriculum reform of basic education in China.In "Ordinary High School Biology Curriculum Standard" published by2003,"To improve the scientific literacy of biology" is the first line of the basic concept of curriculum.The formation of scientific literacy is based on the control of scientific concepts.So,to promote the scientific literacy of the students,we must pay attention to the science concept s teaching.The learning of science concepts is affected by the existing knowledge and ideas. We call these existing knowledge and ideas preconceptions.To disclose the learner s preconceptions and its changing law is considered the key point in science education.Cellular respiration is one of key concepts and teaching difficulties in the high school s biology textbooks.Foreign educators have done a lot of research in this area,then they have got many achievements.But the same research is few in our country.We should study harder about cellular respiration.Adopt documentary method^questionnaire method and experimentation,we carry out "research on evaluating and changing students preconceptions of cellular respiration in high school".Focusing on it,we fulfill following four aspects.First,based on collecting and sorting out related literature about preconception and conceptual change,we discuss the definition^causes and research method of preconceptions.Second,based on the achievements about cellular respiration preconceptions at home and abroad,we develop two-tier diagnostic assessment instrument to probe high school students preconceptions of cellular respiration.Third,based the product,analysis the preconception level of three grade students and discuss the cause.Fourth,put forward the connotation of dressing method proposed by professor Li,change preconceptions of cellular respiration,and evaluate the effect of the conceptual change.The results show that high school students have serious preconceptions of cellular respiration in the defmition,classification,mode,reaction sites,products,substance, significance and relationship with photosynthesis.Students in senior one have most preconceptions,the students in senior three have least. Students in senior two have more preconceptions in breathing pattern of prokaryote,the difference between aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration,facultative anaerobic creatures than other concepts. The teaching experiment which putted forward the connotation of dressing method,its effect of the conceptual change is much better than traditional teaching mode.
