The Cultural Characteristics Of Competitive Wushu Research

Under the background of economic and cultural globalization, the traditional sports,especially competitive wushu, is a part of Chinese traditional culture. Digging itscultural connotation and characteristics at the present time, can keep it develop healthily,actively and reasonably, and make the competitive wushu to be the cultural treasure ofhuman and become one of the important subject of competitive wushu culture. Thispaper uses the document literature, comparative analysis, logical analysis, interviewsand other research methods. It takes the cultural characteristics of competitive wushu asthe research object, from the perspective of culture, to review the development ofcompetitive wushu, and probes into the cultural characteristics of the competitive wushuin the process of development. It aims to explore the theory meaning of wushu culture,so as to provide the development of competitive wushu a beneficial reference andreform in china, it also rich the theory of competitive wushu culture in the future.This paper divided the evolution process of wushu culture into three main stageson the basis of the characteristics of the cultural interaction performance: passive inputstage, active input stage, stage of external output. Passive input stages are divided intobud and forming stage. Germination period (in the early of the republic of China-1949),it is marked by the combination of traditional martial arts and western sports. Formingperiod (1949-1949), under the influence of internal demanding for advanced westernculture in china and the western powerful culture, the competitive wushu began todevelop in a high, difficult and beautiful road, it has begun to take shape at this period.Active input stage is divided into adjustment period and growth period. Adjustdevelopment period (1978-1992),"the great leap forward" of the development ofcompetitive wushu, led to the competitive wushu has a different degree of alienation inthe aspect of technology, system and value orientation. At this stage, competitive wushu turned back to tradition and began to attache great importance to the skill of attack anddefense. Growing period (1992-2008), under the background of globalization ineconomy, culture, martial arts under the guidance of the goal "into the Olympics," thedevelopment of competitive wushu turned to the art direction again, and approached theOlympic spirit "faster, higher, stronger." The external output stage is the improvementperiod of the competitive martial arts (2008-present), competitive wushu opens theforeign spread and diffusion process by reforming the management system, competitionsystem and detailing their own skill at the post-olympic era".On the basis of the development of competitive wushu evolution, analyzing fromthe perspective of the interactive between western and Chinese sports culture,competitive wushu culture is mainly embodied in three major characteristics: culturalattachment, cultural consciousness and cultural radiation. Cultural attachment isembodied in: the first, the germination period of competitive wushu, the culture wasinput passively, it showed that confrontation of the technology system exists on the"objects" level, the succession of the development system exists on the "system" level,and the value orientation are even different. The second, the forming period ofcompetitive wushu, in this period, copying of culture is serious. It showed that thelose of the techniques of offensive and defensive in the competitive wushu, plagiarizethe system of western-style gymnastics and the theory of western sport. Culturalconsciousness is embodied in: firstly, the adjustment of the development of thecompetitive wushu, in this period, performance is the reflection and introspection ofculture, embodied in the returning to the offensive and defensive combat technologysystem, repealing the rules of the institutional radical imitation of western sports,relocating the value orientation of western sports theory. Secondly, the growing periodof competitive wushu, embodied in technology pursuit of "high, difficult, beautiful, thenew" all-round development on the premise of Keeping their own characteristics,absorb selectively and integrate the western system, uptake the value orientation ofwestern sports rationally. Cultural radiation is mainly manifested in the period of matureand perfect in competitive wushu, in this period, the competitive wushu culture systemhas been basically mature, competitive wushu culture inward and outward to diffuse and radiate at different speed and depth.Visible, the evolution of the development of competitive wushu decide the culturalcharacteristics of the competitive wushu.
