The Survive Predicament Of Physical Bookshops In China And The Relevant Operating Strategy Research

With the development of the IT, especially the rising of E-book and online bookstore, traditional bookshops are now experiencing an unprecedented shock, hundreds have gone bankruptcy. This dissertation reviewed the history of the bookshop and summarized the current status. By analyzing the features of E-books, online bookstores and the social reading environment respectively, author summarized the current difficult situation for traditional bookshops. And then, the author analyzed the pros and cons of traditional bookshops in terms of cost, convenience and reading experience; and compared physical bookshops and online bookshops in terms of cost, convenience, pre-reading and demonstration, through the comparisons, found out the pros and cons. Moreover, from three aspects, namely economy, culture, and education, author discussed the significance and advantages of the existence and development of the physical bookshops, and finally took the development path choice and external development environment as the entry points, for both two aspects from inside and outside, demonstrated the future operating strategies of the physical bookshops in China.
