With the increasing expansion of the network scale and the application of newtechnology, IPv6has extensively developed. At this stage, network is in the period ofcoexistence of IPv4and IPv6. In the new network environment, network managementtechnique is required to solve the transition technique based on traditional IPv4networkmanagement and the management problem of IPv6network. However, the networksystem is just stay in the theory research stage. And commercial IPv6networkmanagement system is still a blank space.In the IPv4/IPv6coexisting customer premises campus network environment, thispaper analyses the limitation of IPv4in address space and application, and thenintroduces the advantages and features of IPv6. What’s more, this paper summaries theimpact for network management system caused by the change of network protocol.Lastly, we study the IPv6-supported integrated network management system in twoaspects: network management data collection and topology discovery. The mainresearch works and achievements of this paper are as follows:Firstly, this paper improves the traditional data collection algorithm based on theshortcomings of structure and function, and then proposes a dynamic and layerdistributed data collection algorithm based on Mobile Agent. This paper uses the MobileAgent based on the layer distributed data collection model to improve the centralizedcollection model, reduce network flow, lighten the burden of central managementstation and enhance the real time of data collection. In order to provide precondition forthe IPv4/IPv6coexisting, we utilize Mobile Agent to solve IPv6equipment informationcollection problems.Secondly, this paper improves the traditional IPv4topology discovery algorithmand proposes a customer premise campus topology discovery algorithm which supportsIPv6. Combining the characters of IPv6, leaded by IPv4topology algorithm andutilizing the method that combing SNMP and ICMPv6network management protocols,this paper realizes IPv4network, dual stack network and IPv6island topology discovery.In addition, this paper solve the problem of dual stack equipment recognition, tunnelingtechniques judgment, route absence and redundant devices by combining multlist andsending extra probe packages. Moreover, we improve the efficiency of ICMPv6detecting IPv6island topology by construct self-learning detection and then enhance the real time of the whole network management system.Lastly, based on Chongqing University IPv4/IPv6dual stack campus networkmanagement development project, this paper designs and realizes integrated networkmanagement system which supports IPv6. Furthermore, prototype system is deployed incampus network and experiment network. The results show that this system couldsupport IPv6and achieve the function of network performance management, faultmanagement, topology discovery and SAVI real address authentication.
