| This paper uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to observe how the New YorkTimes reported on2012Diaoyu Island dispute. Through the analysis of the findings which arerelated to agenda setting, the paper summarizes the reporting methods and tendency of the NewYork Times on2012Diaoyu Island dispute, and how the New York Times may mislead itsaudience in the understanding of the dispute, Sino-Japanese relations and China’s image. In itsconclusion, this paper presents some practical suggestions for Chinese news media targetingwestern audience. |
