With the rapid development of the digital signal processing technology, multi-coreDSP signal processing platform has begun to appear in the applications of real-timesignal processing.A new type of general multi-core DSP signal processing platform withhigh performance, low consumption, small volume and a variety of high-speed datatransfer interfaces is designed in this paper. The multi-core signal processing platform is designed based on TI’s KeystoneSeries high-performance multi-core DSP processor TMS320C6678and Xilinx Virtex6Series FPGA chip XC6VSX315T. A detailed introduction is given about the principleand the hardware schematics design. A variety of advanced high-speed serial interfacesare applied to achieve the communications and the interconnections among devices.Besides, the multi-core software design is introduced, including tasks and resourcesallocation, communications and synchronization within the multi-core DSP. Lastly, acertain signal processing task is finally programmed with the multi-core parallelprocessing method. The platform uses high-speed data transmission interface SRIO and PCIe, whichleads to a top speed of5Gbps for real-time data transfer per lane. In addition, DDR3technology is utilized, expanding a2GB high-speed external memory, and theinternationally advanced VPX military processing bus standard is adopted. Moreover, various external interfaces are reserved to ensure the versatility and extensibility of theplatform.
