| H.264/MPEG-4, or AVC (Advanced Video Coding), is a video compressionstandard widely used in high precision video recording, compression and publication.Using a new series of methods, H.264could greatly improved the quality of imageunder the same bit-rate without much increase in design complexity which may lead todifficulties in realization or increase in cost. As the appliance of H.264growing, it is ofgreat necessities to work on the design and verification video decoding core. The videodecoding verification methods, therefore, based on H.264standard is mainly discussedin this study.In this study, we mainly introduced the decoder verification based on H264videocompression standard, advertent problems in different verification phase and ways toassure the sufficiency of the verification at the end of all process. To achieve the abovepurposes, researches of this paper are discussed as follows:Firstly, the developing history of video compression standard is introduced. Thesystem structure of H264standard is given with discussion of some key technologylike intra/inter-frame prediction, entropy coding and so on.Secondly, some general verification methods and process are analyzed anddiscussed in comparison based on SOC verification methods.Then, the verification ideas and realization of video decoding core based on H264standard is discussed. Based on the in-depth study of reusable soft-IP and verificationmethods, the verification platform of video decoding core is constructed to getsufficient verification of this IP which fulfills the practical need of a project. Thus theintegrity of the function and the reusability of this IP is guaranteed.At last, the verification ideas of video decoding core based on H264standard isintroduced. On the bases of in-depth study of reusable soft-IP and verification methods,the verification platform of video decoding core is constructed to get sufficientverification of this IP.
