Nowadays,"talk show" has not been a strange word for the Chinese people; many people know this word is translated from "talk show". Started from tell it like it is in the1990s, which was founded by CCTV, talk show has leaven more and more steps on the Chinese TV screen, it can make people laugh, and also, it can make people think."talk show" has been brought into the Chinese television industry in good time, which stems from England and has the period of prosperous development in the USA. It attracted attentions of many Chinese people because of its kind and warm surroundings, its near and proper content and its special and original form, so it has become one of the most popular TV programs for the Chinese people. During the20years, the TV talk show has gone through two processes, which are from the popular program to disappearing in the TV programs, from appearing once more to making the thorough success. At the same time, its content of program has also gone through three parts, which are from the dull to the diversified, from stating to discussing, from the serious to the amusement. In the Chinese television industry, there is no any TV program, which just likes "talk show", to express the powerful life, and then, it also has the great developed potential, which becomes from small and weak to powerful.The basis on the previous researches, the author makes use of the theory of communication to analyze talk show. This paper consists of five parts. The first part is literature review, to introduce the research background, significance, and then, from two points of view:the research to the whole situation on talk show and the research to the different types on talk show, to introduce the researching situation at home and abroad. The second part, the author will review the developed history of talk show, the forms and characteristics of talk show to provide the basis of fact for the research content. The third part is an important part in this paper; the paper uses the theories of communication to analyze communication characteristics of talk show on the basis of communication main body, communication content, communication tactics and communication environment. The fourth part is to review on the basis of the communication characteristics, to point out the problems of talk show programs. The fifth part is to analyze the trend of talk show, to provide the improved measures for the problems of talk show, to provide the rational suggestions on the good developed trend of talk show to promote sustainable development of talk show in the Chinese television industry.
