Look Back On The Prose Boom In1990s

With the development of times, people’s lives are constantly changing. Meanwhile, theirideas, concepts, aesthetic taste and the reading orientation always have new demands. Prose,as one of the freest literature style, gather all of the glorious of literature and won increasinglyfavorite from nowadays’ people. Journal of Selected Prose Writings, founded in October1984by Henan Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, is one of the few oldest literaryjournals which is focus on the publishing of boutique prose from national newspapers. Sincethe establishment, this journal has made a good selection, guiding and promoting of thecurrent domestic prose, and given a great contribution to the generation, spread anddevelopment of the various prose genres.In this paper, we combine the content and form, start from the Prose Boom in the1990’s,select the "Journal of Selected Prose Writings" as the research object, make a detail analysisand elaboration on the status and the role of this journal in the1990’s Prose Boom throughresearching on the elected prose in that journal and the important phenomenon of essays,prose genre and the Masterpiece during that period, try to find the meaning and limits of thispublication in the entire history of literature, especially in the prose history.The whole thesis is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is divided into two sections. In the first section of the first chapter, abrief analysis of the background, causes and manifestations of the1990s "Prose Boom" ispresented. In the second section of the first chapter, we try to find the meeting point of the"Journal of Selected Prose Writings" and the1990s "Prose Boom" through the purpose,aesthetic taste and topic setting of this journal.In the second chapter, we discuss the works of several important prose genre (such asOlder Generation prose, Prose, Women prose, the New Generation of Prose, Military Proseand so on) in that journal during the1990s and analysis the contact between the core journals,local journals and this journal.In the final chapter, we discuss the significance of this journal from its contribution tofinding and supporting new prose writer and its intention to treasure and spread prose theory.In the conclusion, we slightly talk about the limits of the publication and make some usefulsuggestions.
