The marine environment is complex, changes of which can be influenced byvarious conditions, making it hard to forecast. There has no rigorous orcomprehensive forecasting method so far. With computers’ wide application, greatachievements have been made in the development of marine data forecasting, puttingforward related numerical prediction methods. Live marine environment and forecastplots are drawn using numerical simulation methods according to data of the day andprevious. The marine numerical simulation systems of our country constantly evolve,but forms of marine environment numerical simulation products are monotonous.Users can only get macro grasp through the forecast map but cannot obtain moreprecise information.On the base of analysis and research about the feature of the marine numericalsimulation data, the paper designed and implemented information system of marinenumerical simulation for data visualization in order to give a richer display for thenumerical simulation data. First, the function of the system is analyzed in detail.There are several independent modules, including download module, data exchangeand read module, numerical image generation modules and data visualization module.Secondly, a number of key algorithms were designed and implemented, such as amouse to follow; the image automatically switches coordinate system to drawnumerical image display. Those algorithms were applied to the system successfully.Finally, marine-oriented numerical simulation visualization system was realized. Thissystem uses C/S software architecture, with C#programming language as itsdeveloping language, Oracle Database as database server and Ftp server as file server.Corresponding numerical forms of images can be drawn in various forms via readinganalog data in NetCDF. The system has a variety of visualization functions, providingscalar field, vector field, three-dimensional map and other visual forms. Operationssuch as zooming in, zooming out or dragging can be done on the visual map. Real-time data display, viewing a variety of curves and other interactive operationsare also provided.The numerical visual information system based on ocean numerical simulationdesigned in this paper, implements data management based on database and data file,visualization display of marine observation platforms and numerical simulation data.It can provide important technical support for marine scientific research, disasterprevention and reduction as well as the development of marine economy.
