With the rapid development of the network and the expansion of the networkarchitecture, function and structure of the switches and routers is getting more and morecomplex and higher demand for physical layer interface test complexity of Ethernetswitches and routers is proposed. Test and diagnostic methods of switches and routersphysical layer interface are very backward before, the single function of theinstruments,the wide variety instruments and the complex operational procedures andmostly manual operation of instruments can not meet the short time-consuming, highefficiency and fast protection requirements. Therefore, the automatic, quick andaccurate test of the switches and routers physical layer interface is the direction of thetesters of the Ethernet devices.The thesis combines requirements of “Ethernet switches and routers integrated testsystem” project to focus on the Ethernet swithes and routers physical layer interface testresearch.In accordance with the existing resources the paper proposes and implementsthe Ethernet swithes and routers physical automatic testing method. The thesiscompletes the automatic detection of signal major technical indicators of switches androuters physical layer interface through the automatic test method.The main contributions are as follows:(1)Analyzing the characteristics of the physical layer. According to the requirementof “Ethernet switches and routers integrated test system” project and IEEE802.3Ethernet standard, the thesis puts forward the major technical indicators of physicallayer interface test of switches and routers.(2)Putting forward the hardware overall program and software overall program ofphysical layer interface automated testing of switches and routers. The thesis completesthe software implementation of multiplexer strobe control and network signal switchmatrix strobe control and signal acquisition module and test paprmeters extraction ofthe automatic test method.(3)Realizing automatic test of link pulse signal. It includes the oscilloscope moduleunderlying driver fuction parameters choice of signal acquisition module, the link pulse signal waveform smoothing software and link pulse signal template matching softwareafter completing the signal acquisition.(4)Setting up the automatic test hardware and software environment and giving thetest results.The thesis verifies the feasibility of the automatic test methods by analysis oftest results.This thesis proposes and implements automatic tesing method of Ethernet switchesand routers physical layer interface. The thesis provides a friendly interface and verifiesthe automatic test method to meet the Ethernet switches and routers physical layerinterface test indicator requirements.
